Remote HF Station – Brayshaw Park

Overview

The Marlborough Amateur Radio Club operates a Remote HF Station located at Brayshaw Park in Blenheim. This facility allows licensed amateur operators to remotely access HF radio equipment via the internet, enabling high-frequency operations without the need for a personal HF station at home.

The remote station provides full HF band coverage, using quality transceivers and antennas, and is ideal for club members who are unable to install antennas or radios due to location, licensing, or property restrictions.

Who Is It For?

The Remote HF Station is available to:

  • Financial members of the Marlborough Amateur Radio Club.

  • Licensed amateur radio operators who wish to operate HF but may have equipment, space, or noise restrictions at home.

  • Members participating in club activities, nets, contests, or emergency communications exercises.

It is particularly valuable for:

  • Operators living in antenna-restricted environments.

  • Members traveling without access to their usual stations.

  • Emergency communications training and exercises.

Prior approval is required before access is granted.

How the Station is Set Up

The remote station includes:

  • HF transceiver (Kenwood TS590-S) capable of covering all amateur HF bands.

  • RemoteRig hardware for secure radio control over the internet

  • Broadband internet connection

  • Multi-band HF antenna system

  • Secure location at Brayshaw Park for consistent performance

The system is designed for simplicity, security, and ease of use, ensuring reliable performance for all operators.
