Welcome to the Marlborough Amateur Radio Club (MARC)
We are Branch 22 of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters (NZART), operating under the call sign ZL2KS. Whether you’re an experienced radio operator or just getting started, MARC is a welcoming community for all amateur radio enthusiasts in the Marlborough region.
Our Meetings
We hold regular monthly meetings, focusing on engaging and educational activities rather than lengthy club business discussions. These gatherings provide a great opportunity for members to connect, share knowledge, and participate in hands-on radio-related activities such as:
- Guest talks on amateur radio topics
- Constructors’ nights for hands-on projects
- Bring-and-tell sessions where members showcase their latest projects
Our committee meets separately each month to handle the day-to-day running of the club.
Community & Events
MARC is actively involved in supporting local events by providing communication services. Some of the events we assist with include:
- Marlborough Christmas Parade
- Marlborough Wine & Food Festival
- Marlborough GrapeRide
- Mountain bike rides, endurance horse riding, and car rallies
- Silver Fern Classic Car Rally (South Island-wide coverage)
Additionally, we take part in amateur radio competitions and international events, including:
- Jock White Field Day (February) – A fun event where we set up a temporary site and test our communication skills.
- International Lighthouse Weekend (August) – Operating from Cape Campbell Lighthouse, bringing radio operators together worldwide.
Our Repeaters
MARC has built and maintains several repeaters across the Marlborough region, covering both 2m and 70cm bands. Details on these repeaters can be found on our Repeater Page.
